Sunset on a Sunday Evening

We went for a sunset walk yesterday.  We actually just wanted to go feed some ducks at the pond.  There is a Riparian Preserve behind the local library and it turned out to be much larger than we thought.  We wish we had gone earlier to enjoy more of it, but what we did see was perfect.

We fed the ducks, and then later, saw the sign that said:  “Please don’t feed the ducks bread, it is harmful to them.”  Ooops.

I’m not really sure what a “Riparian Preserve” is, but we found out that this huge area with ponds and marshes is actually a water treatment area, so the water isn’t good for you in any way.  I was just glad it didn’t smell.  Whatever they are doing, it’s a great idea, because it’s beautiful and green.  There are a few tiny streams that are ok to get wet in, and trees to climb, shady areas and little hills that give nice views like this one:

I know it’s blurry, but that was Cole taking the picture with my phone.  He had to capture the absolute beauty of the moment—his words.

I really like being out of the house, away from technology with the family.  It’s such a breath of fresh air—in all ways.  I feel like we spend so much time inside, doing chores, homework, eating—just living—that getting outdoors is a real challenge, and I am surprised to be stymied by something that should come so easily.

We are so lucky to live in a safe place, filled with kind people, and beautiful places to visit and realize how blessed we are in so many ways!
