LOWS:
Got sick, bad. It was strep, or staph, or bronchitis, or something...the Doctor didn't even bother with a culture. He saw a white spot on my tonsil, saw my bleeding throat and said whatever it is, this z-pack will clear it up. That man was great. It was weird having an Asian Doctor walk into the room, which was filled with my kids since it was Christmas vacation and say: "YO! You have a lot of kids! No wonder you are sick!" One of the most entertaining doctors appointments I've ever had. So maybe a high on this one?
Schlepping my kiddos around the Phoenix Zoo the day before the entertaining doctor's appointment. They wouldn't let me get out of one "field trip" while on break, so I sucked it up and we made it through. I'm sure this is what put me over the edge, but I have to say they all enjoyed themselves immensely, so maybe sort of a high, as well? Luke almost climbed into the meerkat and giraffe enclosures, but those aren't deadly, so I made it through without carrying him the rest of the day. Luckily all the big, dangerous animals are completely unattainable for curious and monkey-like 3 year olds.
No slight chance of being a high here: whiny, fighting kids who ALL had a minimum of 30 minutes of tears and meltdowns over Saturday chores. This is no work colony: they had to do things like switch out the laundry, sweep the front walk way, unload the dishwasher, vacuum the bedroom. I let Shawn really give it to them when he got home from a day of Saturday work--another reason I was so crabby--and they are all restricted from all technology for a month. May be a punishment for me too?
Our late nights have really, really done a number on our internal clocks. The kids are having a hard time falling asleep before 11:00 pm, which makes mornings rough and after school hours just brutal. I'm going for NyQuil to drug them into 8:00 pm bed times this week.
Had a babysitter all lined up and everything for a date night to see "Sherlock Holmes" and I had to cancel because of the tantrums and fighting of Saturday wiped me out. I was just a mess and wanted to curl up and sleep for a year.
There is apparently still water under the floor from the water heater explosion before Christmas, so the downstairs is a giant mess of dehumidifiers, heaters and huge wires that Luke wants to unplug and plug. It's noisy and makes the house really hot. Luke has gone back to square one with potty training because he doesn't like the hot, noisy bathroom and wont go upstairs to use it.
My bathroom sink started leaking and ruined a lot of my bathroom supplies I store underneath it.
I hate this house. If I were a betting woman, I would bet...another water leak is scheduled for somewhere later on this month, since we've had the bathtub, then the shower, then the water heater and now the sink leak. Hate, hate, hate this house.
Shawn told the kids that I am being a bad, crabby example to them and that I need to be grateful that we have a roof over our head, a bed to sleep in, food on our plate and gas in the tank. I know....he's totally right. I just got to the point of ENOUGH ALREADY! Which only means the big whammy is going to hit any day now. Am I the only person this into Murphy's Law?
HIGHS:
Obviously the biggest of the week was getting the kids back in school. No complaints about homework (none yet) or mean kids (left over holiday spirit?) so that was refreshing.
For the most part, the kids were very loving to me while I was sick. They would randomly come up to me and hug me and tell me that they hoped I feel better soon. This was pure medicine for the soul.
Even though Shawn balled me out in front of the kids, he has been very kind and supportive of my hormonal complaining, which has been long and drawn out and very illogical and erratic. I don't envy husbands of hormonal pregnant women.
"Downton Abbey" started season 2 on Masterpiece Theatre tonight. I can't recall a series on Masterpiece Classic in the last 5 years--other than the brilliant "Jane Eyre"-- that has been so amazing. Yahoo for tivo...I've got a date on my couch tomorrow morning.
Luke started Primary today--he graduated out of Church Nursery now that he is 3 and is the newest and only Sunbeam. He fought me for the first 10 minutes, so I sat with him in Primary. Then, all of the sudden, he turned to me and said: "Go out, Mom!" I had to ask him a couple of times if he really wanted me to leave, and yes, he did. So I left him and he was fine. I checked on him a few times, and he was turned around in his seat being silly, but that's to be expected of 3 year olds in Primary. Happy Day.
Luke, Brooke and I play "Go Fish" about 10 times a day. I love how competitive they are, and that everytime Luke gets told to "Go Fish" he pumps his arm in the air and says: YETS!!
Seth started a family newsletter and it had 2 articles, a joke section, a game section and of course, a comic section. Love his creativity and the fact that if he hadn't been banned from the computer, this newsletter never would have been created.

Funny about the Asian Doctor comment on all your kids being yours. Z-pack's are AWESOME. I swear Arizona is killing your health--you need to move back!
ReplyDeleteZoo's are sooooooooooooo boring to me. We never go. Super nice of me huh.
This past Saturday we've had kids pick up the house, clean their rooms etc-then we all go to the $2 movies. It seems to be working so far. I think next week we will start "for real" chores and clean out the garden/weeding. Although now that softball is starting up again-all our Saturdays may be shot for the next 3 months!
I have noticed that I kind of prefer to just be curled up in my bed watching tv shows or movies vs getting all dolled up for a date. Should I be worried?! Im liking the easy going friday night at 5pm date to dinner in sweats--we've been doing that mostly!!!
woah--what is up with that house? what a freaking nitemare. You DESERVE to be whiny about it-i'd be a raving hag no doubt.
I have noticed im SUPER WITCHY when I am pmsing..and now Rachel is too--Jon is scared. Poor guy--and we have 3 more girls to join the rampage!!!
We've realized after dinner we as a family need to do something more productive and spend more time with the girls--so we're trying to find simple games to play. Go Fish would work! HA
