Here is the entire class with the teacher.
Happy, happy, happy. It’s so nice in Kindergarten: your child is so very overjoyed to have a parent in class—as opposed to upper grades where they aren’t so pleased when you are around.
The feast was pretty impressive—I ate well. Brooke made a beeline to the dessert and was sure to point out each and every treat she wanted her Dad to put on her plate. “Please don’t forget the cookie pizza, Daddy!!!” Lots of giggles.
Eating, eating, eating. We all grubbed well. I always like buffets. I can fill up my kids plates, and then eat what they don’t finish. That way I don’t have to go back in line and look like a pig. In reality, I think most parents are doing the same thing.
Shawn wanted to stop by and see they boys. They were at lunch. Seth was busy writing something. He told us it was a comic for his teacher, who told the class it was her Anniversary that day. It’s interesting how his writing and being alone at the lunch table don’t make him a pariah or a nerd—in fact the other boys were all the more interested in Seth and what he was writing.
Two tables over sat Cole and his buddy Tanner. This is not Shawn pushing Cole’s head down. Cole was embarrassed, so he ducked his head down behind his lunch box. Shawn affectionately ruffled his hair and said: “See ya later, buddy”. Then, I waited until Cole thought the coast was clear and got a picture of him laughing with his friend.
Cole’s class still looks like it’s populated with thugs from group homes (yes, I am very judgmental and I’m not changing because I still don’t feel good about his class), but I am glad he has one friend that he has bonded with and can share a laugh with here and there throughout the day.
When we left, all 3 kids were happy. Some of us because we came and spent time with them, and one of them because we had finally left!!
